Cala d'Or Attractions

You really need to hire a car to make the most of the delightful Mallorcan East coast.

North of the main town is the impressive Cala d'Or marina which is very chic. A wide range of expensive boats are moored there and the restaurants overlooking the marina offer excellent cuisine for dinner in the evening.

Portopetro is just a couple of miles south of Cala d'Or and is certainly worth a visit. It remains a traditional Mallorcan fishing village despite the arrival of tourism which has lead to a handful of pleasant bars and restaurants all with lovely relaxed Majorcan atmosphere.

A little further south is the national park of Mondragó. You can park at the visitor centre and walk down to Cala Mondrago via the road (takes approx 5 mins) or take the scenic stroll through the countryside (takes approx 15 mins). A map is available at the visitor centre. The first beach when arriving from the road has beautiful turquoise water and is surrounded by an beautiful cove. Follow the path alongside the sea to the right of the beach which takes you round to a another larger sandy beach.

The nearby town of Manacor is the home of the Majorca Pearl industry. Visitors are invited to watch the manufacturing process and afterwards visit the factory shop.

The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 1pm, and again on a Sunday from 9.30am to 1pm.
